About 20 people
joined Allen Johnson, B.J. Gudmundsson, Maria Gunnoe and others at the Main
Tin at 5 PM for a great Chinese buffet.
At 6:30 Tonya Adkins and
friend performed great music for 30 mins. I started the program off with an
intro for Allen Johnson and Dr. Bob Marshall who then brought BJ on stage. It
was a real love fest from the beginning. Local legislator Danny Wells was
present along with some local religious people and other supporters of the
anti-MTR movement. The South Charleston board provided three people who
worked selling tickets and refreshments and director Teresa Whitt was
present, showing the computerized ad slides for the first time.
There were at least
three tables of displays in the lobby with free copies of the CFTM videos for
people to take and info from other enviro groups. One lady was asking for
signatures to save the flying squirrels being destroyed by MTR. ( I mentioned
during the Q & A at the end that it would be great to see an entire film
on the holocaust to the animals and plant life in the MTR zone.)
Larry Gibson flew in
from NY to be present. He and Maria and BJ
and Allen answered my questions and other questions after the films were all
shown. Larry was very thankful to everyone present for helping him in his
battle to save his Kayford Mountain and Appalachia.
anyway, it was a
great night....and hopefully many more religious communities will get to see
the two films, as well as many more people around the state, country, and
world.....
